11.02.21 Home learning, Half Term, Contact and Knowledge Organisers

Thursday, February 11, 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you and well done to everyone who has made a huge effort with the home learning. I know that this is a very difficult time for everyone just now and the efforts that you have gone to will have made a difference to your children.

We do not yet know when school will reopen again fully, and I will write to you again once a date has been confirmed.

Next week (Monday 15th February to Friday 19th February) is half term and there will be no lessons on the website for these days, although this week’s learning will still be available if you didn’t get chance to complete it all.

I am aware that the children have worked hard and you may feel that they (or you) need a rest over half term! If this is the case in your house, then this is fine, have a lovely rest!

However, as we are still in lockdown and families need to stay in their homes (unless leaving the home from an approved reason) then the children might want to have some activities to fill their time.

The children can still access our online programmes such as Bug Club and Times Table Rockstars.

There are other educational games, puzzles and activities that they can do from various educational websites such as:

www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/games

https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/puzzles

https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/index.html

Knowledge Organisers

All classes are also putting their new Knowledge Organiser on their class page. This gives the key concepts and vocabulary that will be covered during the next topic. It would be very beneficial for all the children to go through this with an adult and to discuss the content. These will be available from Friday 12 February and you could go through them during half term, or from Monday 22nd February.

Some children like to do a piece of artwork or project based on the Knowledge Organisers. If your child chooses to do this, they can send an email with a photograph to the teacher to show them at the end of the week.

Contact over half term

The teacher emails will not be monitored during half term.

If you urgently need to contact school during the half-term week, then you can contact Mrs Iqbal on a.iqbal@reedley.lancs.sch.uk

Any child who has been in school and receives a positive COVID result during the holidays, must inform Mrs Iqbal as soon as they get a positive result.

Survey for Parents/Carers

Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to the survey about home learning. We had 112 replies to the survey. We aim to put a summary of this on our school website and to send it out to you.

Reminders for home learning

-Remember to watch the videos on your class pages of the website each day.

-Answer the phone when school staff call – this will be a 033 number.

-Email work to your child’s classteacher, including a piece of writing that they have done each week.

-Children do not need a password to access the work on the school website. They just need to click on their class page to access the learning.

Year group assemblies

Thank you to everyone who has taken part in a Zoom assembly this week.

It was lovely to see so many of you logging on.

Please remember that you need to have yourself muted throughout.

Half term

Half Term ends on Friday 19th February.

School will reopen to the children of critical workers on Monday 22nd February.

Children who are doing home learning need to resume their work on this date.

Assemblies via Zoom will take place for each year group on Monday 22nd February and the links for these will be sent out the day before

Thank you for your support,

Mrs Sarah Bell

Headteacher
