Shabana Hussain, author of

Thursday 10th November

Dear Families,

At Reedley, we welcome authors in to school to celebrate reading and widen our children’s experience of literature.

We are excited to welcome Shabana Hussain, author of ‘Speak Up Sami’, and parent of a child who left us in Y6 last year.  ‘Speak up Sami’ is a story about courage, kindness and friendship and provides opportunities for us to have meaningful discussions around bullying, diversity and celebrating differences.

The visit will take place on Tuesday 29th November. Ms Hussain will be working with all of the children in school, doing book readings, running workshops and leading drama activities.

There will be an opportunity to pre-order the book at a discounted price of £5.00 and have it signed on the day.  If you wish to do so, please send in £5.00 in an envelope with your child’s name and class written clearly by Tuesday 22nd November. These should be given to your child’s class teacher.  Books need to be ordered from the publisher in advance and we can’t accept any orders after this time.

We are looking forward to welcoming Ms Hussain back to our Reedley community and we know that your children will really enjoy the visit.

Thank you for your continued support,
