Autumn 1

Our English focus this term is a naarative and non-fiction based around the story The way home for wolf, by Rachel Bright. We will be researching animals that we will write a non- fiction page for and then incoroprate them into our own stories.

This week we have been using Talk 4 Write to learn and retell the story through actions. Here is our story map that we have used to help us recall the story and actions.

We have used the story as a stimulus to write a non-chronological report about a animal from the savannah. We researched our animals then organised our facts under different headings to create our plans. We then used the plans to write our own non-chronological reports.

This week we have started to look at riddles. We have been reading riddles to identify the features of them. We have made up our own riddles for objects orally. See the clips below.

Autumn 2

We have been learning about traditional stories. We are looking at the story Little Red Riding Hood. This week we have been freeeze framinig different parts of the story. Here are some pictures

We changed the traditional story for our own version with a story map and then we used this to write our own version of the story. Here are some pictures.

Poetry - T'was the night before christmas

We then write our own poem about If we were St Nicholas. We really enjoyed learning this peom and putting actions to the poem to hlep us remember the poem. We then performed the poem for Mrs Gorrell. See the school Twitter account for a video of us performing this.
