Dear Parents/Carers,
ROAD SAFETY INCIDENT
This morning I was hit by a car whilst I was walking across the road near school. The car that hit me had been illegally parked on double yellow lines, whilst an adult dropped children off at school. I sustained an injury and have been in pain throughout the day, but if it had been a child that had been hit, the injuries could have been more serious.
I have reported the incident to police for ‘driving without due care and attention’ and the police have informed me that they will be in touch with the driver over the coming days.
This is the reason that we are constantly speaking to drivers about adhering to the law with regard to parking and driving. I know parking is tight around school but the safety of our children and their families must be given priority over convenience. I see some shocking examples of driving and parking around our school, and I will continue to send pictures and videos to the police of vehicles that are breaking the law.
Please ensure that all drivers stick to the law and only drop off and pick up legally and that they are aware of all other road users, including pedestrians.
Punctuality
We had 9 hours and 45 minutes of lates this week.
Please ensure that your child is in school before the gates closes at 8.50am each day.
Attendance
Our overall attendance for this week is 92.27%.
This has dropped from last week. Both of our Y1 classes have met the target this week, but they are the only classes that did.
Any child with attendance lower than 90% is classed as a persistent absentee by Lancashire County Council. Parents/carers are always informed if their child falls into this category.
Please note that leave from school will not be authorised as it is the law that children attend school. Our attendance policy is available on our school website.
