Dear Parents/Carers,

Punctuality

We had 6 hours of lates this week, meaning vital learning is still being missed by some children.

Please ensure that your child is in school before the gates closes at 8.50am each day.  We seem to have children arriving later when it is raining. Please check the weather conditions and ensure that your child is in school on time.

Attendance

Our overall attendance for this week is 94.15%.  This is an improvement on last week but still below our target of  96%.

Events This Week

  • Some children from Y2 attended a multi-skills sporting event at Colne Sports Centre.

  • All classes took part in a Reading is Magic Festival and will be carried out activities within their classes.

  • Our Learning Ambassadors took part in a day with children from other schools at Burnley Youth Theatre on Monday. They worked on art, drama and dance activities around the theme of friendship.

  • Some children from Y1 and Y2 took part in a family learning session with Lancashire County Council on Monday afternoon.

Upcoming Events

  • Parents/carers of Reception children are invited to attend a vocabulary workshop on Monday 9th October from 9.00 – 9.30am. You will get the chance to work with your children during the session.

  • Y3 children are having a visitor in their PE lesson on Tuesday

Parent/carer meetings

Parents/carers are invited to make an appointment to meet their child’s classteacher in the week beginning 16th October. There are some appointment times within the school day and some after school. You will have to check the slots carefully as they are on different days throughout the week.

All appointments must be booked online via the School Spider App from Friday 6th October at 6pm.

If you cannot attend during the times we have allocated, please call the school office and we will arrange an alternative appointment with the class teacher.

Reminders

Children can come to school from 8.15am each morning. We will supervise them and provide them with activities to do until school starts. Please remember that children should arrive between 8.15 and 8.25am. If they arrive after this time, they should go to the pedestrian gate on Reedley Road with their adult and wait for it to be opened at 8.40am.

Whilst waiting for the doors to open at 8.15am, children should queue on the footprint path with their adult and should not be on the staff carpark at any point. Children must not be left unattended prior to 8.15am and are the responsibility of their adult until they enter school at 8.15am.
