English

What are we learning in English?

In English we are looking at persuasion. We have looked at TV adverts, paper adverts, brochures etc. to discover who our target audience is and why. Here is our working wall showing how we worked as groups to identify key features of a persuasive text.
Ask your child if they can use effective vocabulary to persuade you to visit Reedley Primary School.

Here is Zainab, Dua, Samiyah, Zeeshan and Hamza in their reciprocal reading group. Today Dua is big boss and she is asking her clarifier, summariser, questioner and predictor to help her understand the story Coraline.

Here is our English working wall, we have each wrote down features of a text.

We looked at a robot and spoke about its functions. We then discussed if we would buy it and gave reasons why. Children then wrote a review as to why they would or wouldn't purchase the toy!

Reciprocal reading
Miss Brown reciprocal reading group have been taking on their specific roles again to understand the text Coraline. Today we looked at the word reluctant and Dua, Zeeshan and Zainab used the book to help them decide what the word meant. See the video at the bottom of the page. They are really enjoying this book!

Editing our work!
We have been really proactive editing our work and noticing ourselves the little mistakes we often make. We have realised that sometimes just reading out our sentences helps us to understand the errors. We have used whisper phones to speak into, the whisper phone then echos what we have said into our ear so we can spot the mistakes.
