Half Term School Closure

School will be closed for half term for one week from Monday 26^th May.

School will reopen on Monday 2^nd June.

Attendance

Whole school attendance this week is 94.64%.

These six classes met the target of 96% this week.

Punctuality

Five classes only had only one late this week.

Well done Y1C, Y2S, Y3G, Y4P and Y6E.

Please ensure all children are in school by 8.50am. Lessons start promptly at this time.

Y6 SATS

Well done to our Year 6 children who took their SATs tests this week. We have been very proud of their perseverance.

Sporting Events

There are a number of sporting events which will be taking place throughout the summer term.

·         All children will take part in sports day on Monday 16^th June.

·         Children from Years 1 to Year 6 will take part in a multi-sport event in June, run by Trikidz.

·         All children will take part in a fun sporting activity on 23^rd to 24^th June

In order for children to take part in these events, all children will need an appropriate PE kit in school including school pumps.

Please ensure that your child has pumps in school after half term.

Upcoming Events

·         Year 4 Egyptian Day

Year 4 are having an Egyptian Immersion Day on Friday 23rd of May. Children are invited to dress up for the day for an exciting day where they will learn about Tutankhamun, mummification and the tomb that Howard Carter discovered in 1922.

·         I have attached some leaflets at the bottom of this letter for events in Pendle over the half term holiday.

·         Thursday 19^th June – Eid Fair in school from 3.40pm to 4.40pm

Human Library (Career Fair)

We are looking for parents or family members who may be willing to talk about their profession with the children. We would like it to be members of our community that our children see and aspire to be like.

We would be looking for professions such as doctors, pharmacists, members of the emergency services (fire, police and ambulance), chefs, business owners, mechanics, construction workers, dentist, accountants, lawyers, HR and ICT roles.

If you feel like this is something that you would be willing to spare an afternoon and share your roles and expertise with our children, please get in contact with Mrs Ellisor the school office by Friday the 23^rd May 2025. Dates for the career fair will be decided once we have enough parents/carers to support with this project.

·         Eid. The current position is that school will be closed on Monday 9^th and Tuesday 10^th June. This may change to school being closed on Friday 6^th June.

·         Sports Day -  (subject to weather)– families are welcome to come and watch

·         Y4 Times Table Check will take place between Monday 2^nd June to Friday 13^th June

·         Y4 Eid Assembly - Families of children in Y4 invited to the assembly at 2.30pm on 18^th June

·         Eid Fair – Thursday 19^th June from 3.40 – 4.40pm

·         Phonics Screening Check for Y1 and some Y2 children to take place from Wednesday 11th June to Friday 13^th June.

·         Y6 Residential trip to Whitehough  - Monday 7^th July to Wednesday 9^th July

·         Summer Holiday School will close at 1.30pm on Wednesday 23^rd July. School will reopen to pupils on Tuesday 2^nd September.
