Dear Parents/Carers,
Please some events that are taking place from the Lancashire Family Hubs over the summer.
Summer Holiday
School will close at 1.30pm on Wednesday 23rd July. School will reopen to pupils on Tuesday 2nd September
Breakfast Club
From September there will some changes to the current breakfast club provision.
The current providers are no longer able to continue to run the club, due to such low numbers.
From September, the club will be run by school staff.
The club will run from 8am to 8.40am daily.
The cost will be £3 per child, per session.
The same charge will apply whether children arrive for the full session or part of a session.
The children will be offered a snack to eat and there will be activities to take part in.
Families will need to book sessions in advance and pay online on the School Spider app.
Bookings will open towards the end of the summer holiday and the club will operate from Tuesday 2nd
September.
Punctuality
Y5 Dragonfly Class and Y6 Hydrometra Stagnorum had no lates this week. Well done!
Attendance
Whole school attendance this week is 94.84%
Four classes met the target of 96% attendance this week
Minks Y3G 97.41%
Herons Y1C 97.04%
Beavers Y3E 96.93%
Ducklings Rec H 96.30%
Request for Resources
If families have any resources that you no longer need, we would be very grateful to receive donations.
These need to be in good working order and with all the pieces if it is a game.
Specifically we are looking for:
• Lego (either packs or just loose pieces of Lego)
• Board games
• Any Orchard Toy games such as bingo, matching pairs etc
• Jigsaws

Summer Book Boost
Mrs Gorrell has asked me to share this opportunity for children to take part in some very exciting events over
the summer. Adults just need to scan the QR code and enter an email address to receive exciting activities
about books and authors. Reading Rocks is a great company. We get regular books from them throughout the
year and it brings so much joy to the children when they see the new books that have been sent.
‘Children who choose to read regularly are more likely to have better job prospects, higher earnings and
stronger social skills later in life.’ (The Reading Agency, 2015)

Events this week
SEND meetings
Thank you to the families who were able to attend the SEND meetings this week.
Shakespeare Workshop
Year 5 children took part in a workshop related to their Shakespeare workshop this week
Stay and Play
Many of our children who are due to start in Reception in September came to visit this week for some Stay
and Play sessions.
Reception Class – Pirate Day
On Wednesday 16th July the children in Reception had a pirate day. It was great to see them having so much
fun.

Attendance Treat
On Wednesday, 238 children across school were able to take part in the termly attendance treat. All children
whose attendance for the summer term was 96% or above were able to have a session of Laser Quest
delivered by Funda.
I have already rebooked the activity for December, by request from the children. Children with 96%
attendance in the Autumn Term will be able to take part in the next Laser Quest.
Swimming
In September, all of our children from Y3 to Y6 will take part in swimming lessons when the pop up pool
visits.
They will all need:
GIRLS
- A one-piece swimming costume
- A swimming hat
- Towel
- Dressing gown
- Flip flops/crocs
BOYS
- Swimming trunks or shorts
- Towel
- Dressing gown
- Flip flops/crocs
The children all have individual changing cubicles and will have a shower before and after going in the pool.
Key Dates
• Y6 Leavers’ assembly – families of our current Y6 children are invited to attend their final assembly
on Wednesday 23rd July from 9.15am.
• Summer Holiday School will close at 1.30pm on Wednesday 23rd July.
