Dear Parents/Carers,

School Reopens on Tuesday 6th January

I would like to thank all of our families for the support that you have shown to our school this year.

I wish you all a peaceful and happy break. Merry Christmas to those of you who will be celebrating.

I wish everyone happiness for 2026.

 

Attendance

 

Our overall school attendance this week was 93.36%

These two classes met the target of 96% attendance this week.

Y6 Husky Class

97.49%

Y3 Koala Class

97.12%

Attendance Treat

225 were on the list for having achieved at least 95% attendance this term.

These children were invited to take part in the Laser Quest activity on Wednesday run by Funda Land.

The next treat will take place at Easter.

This will be for children with good attendance from January to the end of March.

 

Awards

The Ribble Team won the half term points competition. They had their treat today.

Punctuality –Y5 Meerkat Class had the best punctuality this half term. They will have a non uniform day on Friday 9th January.

The 32 children have only had 11 late marks in their class over the last 34 days! Well done!

Attendance – Y3 Koala Class had the best attendance this half term. They will have a non uniform day on Friday 9th January.

Sue Dean Award – Hamzah Ali in Y6 won the Sue Dean award for an excellent improvement in his writing.

Alayna Khan Y4 and Huzaifa Ali Y2 won a £10 book voucher in the draw for children who have completed the Reading for Pleasure Awards.

 

Christmas Fair

The raffle was drawn on Wednesday with the School Council checking that it was all done correctly. Thank you to everyone who contributed to support the school.

 

Primary School Admissions

School admissions are open and will close on 15th January.

 

If your child is in their last year of pre-school/nursery you can now apply for their primary school place at: https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/search/?search=school+admissions

 

It's quick and easy to do and you will receive email confirmation of your application.

You must apply even if you already have siblings in our school.

Chaos to Calm TALK, LISTEN, SHARE

There will be a group for parents whose children may be displaying Challenging Behaviours

Sessions will cover:

• Identifying and understanding children’s behaviours

• Build and develop relationships between parent and child

• Develop and build practical strategies

• Develop Calm Time

• Building strategy toolkit to continue progress

Group run by Children's Mental Health Team in school starting Monday 23rd February 9-10 for 6 weeks

Interested parents should contact Miss Cowell or Mrs Simmonds who can forward requests to the team.

They will complete an initial assessment with you to decide whether the group is suitable. 

If not, they can offer advice or refer to another service.

 

Design and Technology Project

 

Biscuits

This week Y6 made cookies. They sold them all in record time and made £34.50.

I bought one on Thursday and can confirm that they were delicious.

Healthy Pasta Salad

Y3 children had a design brief to make a healthy pasta salad fit for a Liverpool LFC player.

Unfortunately, the players did not actually attend but the healthy pasta all looked amazing.

 

 

 

 

 

Sanderson’s Dance

A dance teacher from Sanderson’s came in again to work with Y3.

 

 

 

Key Events

·         Christmas Holiday – School will be closed from Monday 22nd December and will reopen on Tuesday 6th January.
