Maths in Year 1

At Reedley, we follow the Red Rose Maths scheme. Below you will find a yearly overview showing which areas of Maths are cover weekly in each half term.

On occassion, these units take more/less time than stated as we adapt them to meet all childrens needs but it gives you a good insight into what your child is currently learning and what comes before/next.

Autumn 1 - 

Place Value

The children have been counting from 0 - 20 and representing numbers to 10 using their fingers. Children have been using 10 frames and counters to represent numbers to 20 independently. The children have been introduced to 'groups of 10' and have been working towards representing numbers 10 - 20 using base 10 equipment and bundles of straw.
