Reception Information 🎒

Here are a few important reminders to help your child feel happy, confident and ready for their day in Reception.

What to Bring Each Day 🎒

Please make sure your child brings:

A blue school book bag
Please use a school book bag rather than a rucksack, as we do not have enough space to store rucksacks.

A named water bottle
Children should bring their water bottle to school every day.

Reading books and reading record
These should be kept safely inside your child’s book bag and brought to school each day.

A suitable coat
We enjoy learning outdoors throughout the year, so please make sure your child has a coat suitable for the weather.

PE 👟

Our Reception PE day is Tuesday.

Children will need:
a red polo T-shirt, black shorts and black pumps. During colder weather, children may also bring plain black tracksuit bottoms for outdoor PE.

PE kits should remain in school and will be sent home at the end of each term for washing. PE kits and PE bags can be purchased from the school office. Pumps will need to be purchased separately.

Please Label Everything! ✏️

Please write your child’s name in all of their belongings, including coats, jumpers, cardigans, book bags, water bottles and PE kit.

It is also really helpful to show your child where their name is written so they begin to recognise which belongings are theirs.

Growing in Independence 🌱

Reception is a big step, and we encourage children to become increasingly independent. At home, you can help by encouraging your child to practise putting on and fastening their coat, dressing and undressing, using the toilet and washing their hands independently, using a knife and fork and looking after their own belongings.

Small opportunities to practise these skills can make a big difference to their confidence at school.

School Times ⏰

The pedestrian gate opens at 8.40am and closes at 8.50am. Children should be in school ready for the day to begin at 8.50am.

At the end of the day, the gate opens at 3.25pm and children should be collected by 3.30pm.

If you arrive after the morning gate has closed, please enter through the School Office/blue buzzer gate.

Attendance 🌟

Regular attendance and arriving at school on time are really important for children's learning, friendships and routines.

If your child is unwell and unable to attend school, please report their absence using the Studybugs app. Family holidays should not be taken during term time and will not be authorised.

Thank you for helping us make sure every child is ready to learn, play and enjoy their day in Reception.
